Working Group reports and recommendations
About ten thematic working groups were held during the Forum. They were invited to
adopt recommendations to strengthen international cooperation in their area of
activity. Each of them was composed of 8 sessions of 90 minutes each. Every
working group held at least one or two joint sessions with other working
groups. They presented their recommendations in the plenary session on the last
day of the Forum. These concrete recommendations are the result of several
discussion sessions with panellists and participants from the international
scene. They address crucial issues from each of the themes discussed and speak
to all stakeholders. Two working groups adopted recommendations for two
specific UN summits and have already presented them. The working group on the
Information Society adopted recommendations for the preparatory process of the
World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS, Geneva 2003) and decided to
continue its activities. The working group on Trade, Environment and
Sustainable Development also prepared recommendations for the World Summit on
Sustainable Development (Johannesburg 2002).
There is an executive report available for each working group.
The chairs of the working groups provided the reports.
